A father charged with theft for allegedly stealing money meant for his disabled son pleaded not guilty on Monday.
Timothy J. Heuring, 45, of 613 Sycamore Circle, entered his plea before Circuit Judge William Syler.
Authorities allege during a Notre Dame Regional High School basketball game Feb. 10, a letter from Heuring was read to spectators urging them to donate money for the defendant's son, who had suffered a spinal cord injury. Spectators gave $2,202.58 that night, which was deposited into a bank account by the school's assistant principal.
Heuring later withdrew the money, which was never given to his son, according to a probable-cause statement.
Through his attorney Monday, Heuring also requested a change of venue, which was granted by Syler.
