A Cape Girardeau man who has been connected to a 2005 robbery at Quik Cash, 125 Broadview St., pleaded not guilty to the charges before Circuit Court Judge William L. Syler on Monday. Robert D. Heyl, 56, is charged with armed criminal action and first-degree robbery for allegedly holding a woman at Quik Cash at knifepoint and stealing more than $1,000 in cash on April 4, 2005. Heyl was charged with the crime August 2006 after forensic specialists matched DNA taken from gloves and a nylon, found near the scene of the crime, to a swab of DNA taken from Heyl's mouth. According to a lab report, the DNA gathered would only match 1 in 459.8 quadrillion people. Heyl will appear in court again March 29.
