A Cape Girardeau man who wrapped himself in plastic, displayed knives with his wife's name written on one of them and threatened to kill her pleaded guilty to felony and misdemeanor charges Monday before Circuit Court Judge Benjamin F. Lewis.

Joshua D. Wright, 23, was charged March 10 with unlawful use of a weapon and third-degree domestic assault for an incident at his residence, 820 S. Pacific St.

The victim said she arrived at their residence March 9 after they had a fight to find Wright wrapped in trash bags from his neck to his feet. He told her he didn't get want to get blood on himself when he killed her, she told police.

The weapons Wright displayed on a coffee table included a knife with her name written on the blade and a second knife with her ex-boyfriend's name written on the blade.

The victim told officers she and her husband were fighting because she had lunch with her ex-boyfriend.

A third weapon, a broken wooden stick around 26 inches long, had both their names written on it.

Lewis released Wright on his own recognizance, ordering him not to have any contact with the victim. Wright's father, present in the gallery, said his son would be staying with him at his residence.

Wright will appear before Lewis for sentencing May 10.
