Name: James E. Walker
Age: 53
Residence: Cape Girardeau
Sentence: maximum 10 years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.
Summary: On Feb. 7, 2007, officers executing a search warrant discovered a loaded semiautomatic pistol in the bedroom of Walker's residence. Walker's previous convictions prohibit him from possessing firearms. Sentencing is set for June 15.
Sentenced
Name: Joseph A. Akens
Age: 28
Residence: Cape Girardeau
Sentence: 140 months
Summary: On January 30, 2007, Cape Girardeau police served a search warrant at Akens' residence, retrieving about two pounds of marijuana and two firearms. Akens arrived home during the search and admitted to selling the drugs and possessing the guns. He told police he kept the firearms due to previous burglaries at his house.
