A Cape Girardeau man is in custody after police say he threatened to kill a woman at knife point Wednesday.
Police are seeking third-degree assault and tampering with a motor vehicle charges against Willie C. Shannon, 26, of 650 N. Fountain St.
The victim, who knew Shannon, told police he threatened to kill her with a pocketknife at her residence at about 4:30 a.m., Sgt. Barry Hovis said. Hovis said the victim pulled out a baseball bat to defend herself. At that point Shannon allegedly cut a tire in the victim's vehicle and fled to a nearby apartment building, entering one of the apartments.
Police found him hiding in a bathroom there and took him into custody, Hovis said.
