Steven Johnson had the privilege of Alan Jackson's company Sunday night after the country star's Show Me Center concert. But Johnson probably isn't too proud of the first impression he left with the singer.

Johnson, while traveling through the intersection of Sprigg and Good Hope at about 11 o'clock, struck the right side of Jackson's tour bus.

No one was injured in the mishap, but Jackson's bus had to be towed from the scene.

Johnson was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

"He failed to stop at a stop sign, and he had an expired Illinois driver's license," said Mark Weldon, the Cape Girardeau police officer who arrested Johnson. "He also failed my field-sobriety test.

"When I arrived on the scene, the bus driver walked up to me and pointed out Johnson who was staggering on the sidewalk. He identified Johnson as the driver of the car that hit the bus."

Johnson was traveling east on Good Hope when his vehicle collided with Jackson's tour bus, which was traveling south on Sprigg.

Weldon said Jackson remained on the bus while the officer was on the scene. Another officer interviewed Jackson and other members of his entourage for the accident report.

Everyone on the bus was calm and drinking Fresca.

Weldon said he didn't realize whose bus was struck.

"I didn't know who he was," he said. "I'm not a county-western fan."

Jackson and his entourage were picked up by another tour bus and taken to the Cape Girardeau Municipal Airport.

Johnson was still being held in the Cape Girardeau city jail Monday night.
