Gilbert and his partner, Tom Dereign of Sikeston, won their section consisting of 13 tables and finished second overall in the field of about 60 tables earlier this month.

Their team competed in the 100 to 500 masterpoint level. The tournament was sponsored by the American Contract Bridge League.

Gilbert is an instructor in the Cape Girardeau Area Vocational School, and will be teaching a class each Tuesday evening this fall entitled, "Improving Your Bridge."
