After being pursued by Cape Girardeau police early Sunday, a Cape Girardeau man crashed his vehicle into a tree on Hanover Street.
The driver, Mario Bell, was extricated from his vehicle by fire crews around 2:45 a.m.and transported to Saint Francis Medical Center.
Cape Girardeau Police Department Sgt. Dennis Horn said late Sunday he was unsure of Bell's condition and that no charges had been filed.
Police officers first encountered Bell when he was allegedly driving erratically on Bloomfield Street.
"Two of my officers were on another call. They saw him pull a U-turn, and he ran up in someone's yard turning his car around," Horn said.
While fleeing officers, Bell allegedly failed to stop at stop signs, hit a parked vehicle and then hit the tree.
