The incident, which allegedly occurred Sunday around 9 p.m., was not reported to police until Monday morning.

An anonymous call had been made to the Division of Family Services to make a report, Schmidt said. Investigations were conducted jointly between police and the state agency.

Benn was being held on a $10,000 bond Tuesday at the Cape Girardeau County jail.
