CAPE MAN CAPTURES PRIZE IN TEXAS POETRY CONTEST

Dale Haskell of Cape Girardeau is a prize winner in the Texas Christian University Creative Writing Competitions, a highlight of the university's annual observance of Creative Writing Week.

Haskell won honorable mention in the Margie B. Boswell Poetry Contest for "Dig."

Featured speakers for Creative Writing Week were essayist/ playwright Larry L. King of Washington, D.C., whose play "The Golden Shadows Old West Museum" recently was published by TCU Press, and novelist Carole Nelson Douglas, whose best-selling "Good Night, Mr. Holmes" and its two sequels featured the American opera singer Irene Adler as the only woman to outwit Sherlock Holmes.
