A Cape Girardeau man was arrested Thursday after police said he sped away from a traffic stop.

Zatrun R. Twiggs, 21, of 520 Morgan Oak St., was arrested Thursday around 11:30 p.m. A police officer noticed him in a vehicle and stopped him, recognizing that there were four warrants out for his arrest in three cities. But Twiggs sped away, according to Cape Girardeau Police Sgt. Barry Hovis.

Twiggs fled to a nearby apartment at 1020 Independence St. and let himself in.

After calling for backup, the officer discovered a second man, Emmanuel Ware, whom he also recognized as a convicted felon with a warrant out for his arrest for probation violation.

Officers arrested both of the men. Twiggs was also charged with resisting arrest and first-degree trespassing.
