A Cape Girardeau man is facing three felony charges after police received a report he broke into a home early Monday morning and brandished a gun.
Demetrius Willis, 24, was charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree domestic assault and unlawful use of a weapon, online court records show.
A witness told police that just after 1 a.m. Monday, Willis kicked in a door at a home in the 800 block of Hickory Street, displayed a firearm and got into an altercation with a woman inside, said public information officer Darin Hickey of the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
After the altercation, Willis fled, Hickey said.
About 3 a.m. Monday, police found him at another Cape Girardeau residence and arrested him, Hickey said.
Hickey said the woman, who was uninjured, gave police an account of what happened.
The suspect and the woman were acquainted, Hickey said.
Online records show no prior offenses for Willis.
Bond was set at $25,000, with the condition he have no contact with the victim and stay more than 500 feet away from her residence and workplace, online court records show.
