The U.S. Postal Service is picking up mail more frequently at designated collection points in Cape Girardeau.
"But we're still making regular pickups at all the collection boxes," said Toni Charles, manager of customer services at the Cape Girardeau Post Office.
That means 5:45 p.m. every day at the collection box at the local post office, 320 N. Frederick.
"We make more than one pickup at targeted boxes," said Charles. "We've picked up some mail as early as 2 p.m., but, we make the late afternoon pickups at designated times. And these times are posted on the box."
The mail pickups at the post office may start at 4:30 p.m., depending on the traffic. But, the final pickup is not before 5:45 p.m.
People wanting mail to go out after the final 5:45 p.m. pickup at the downtown post office, will have to deposit the mail at the U.S. Postal Service's regional processing center at 475 Kell Farm Drive in the Cape West Business Park.
"They pick up the mail there every hour until 9 p.m.," said Charles.
