Betty Martin, adult services coordinator for the Cape Girardeau Public Library, recently announced plans for three upcoming events at the library.
First, at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dr. Bambi Robinson will present a program on Baltimore Album quilts in the Hirsch Community Room. Baltimore Album quilting is a very intricate form of applique quilting that began in 19th century Baltimore.
Robinson, a philosophy professor at Southeast Missouri State University, has been an avid quilter for eight years. Her presentation will be the first in a monthly series of quilting programs to be conducted at the library.
Families are invited to make haunted gingerbread houses at the Cape Girardeau Public Library at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14. Library staff member Ren Gateley will show participants how to decorate simple gingerbread houses for Halloween.
Registration is required by Oct. 2 so there will be enough materials. Call 334-5279 to register.
On Thursday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m., Jon Colburn will present a program on historic garden preservation. He will show slides from his work at the Paine Art Center and Arboretum in Wisconsin and talk about how to create the feel of a historic garden in any yard.
Colburn has been involved in a variety of historic preservation projects.
