The Cape Girardeau Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire that damaged a house early Monday morning.
About 3:15 a.m., the fire department responded to a report of a house fire at 1005 S. Sprigg St., according to a news release issued by battalion chief Fred Vincel. Upon arrival, fire crews saw fire was showing on all sides of the house, and two adjacent structures were threatened. Firefighters successfully battled the blaze, but the house sustained heavy fire and structural damage throughout. The adjacent structures were undamaged, the release said.
There were no injuries reported in connection with the fire, and, according to the release, mutual aid was provided by the Jackson and Scott City fire departments. The fire is under investigation by the Cape Girardeau fire and police departments.
