Cape Girardeau's historic preservation commission will decide tonight whether to endorse adding another site to the city's commerical historic district, 127 N. Water St., the former site of Jeremiah's.

Preservationist Terri Foley, who worked on the project with Southeast Missouri State University history professor Steven J. Hoffman, said it's a mystery why the site wasn't part of the original designation.

The commission will decide whether to approve the recommendation, which would then be sent to the state commission. The city board will also finalize plans for May's Historic Preservation Month activities, which will include a walking tour.

The historic preservation commission meets at 7 p.m. today at city hall, 401 Independence St.
