After fleeing, Curtis was caught by Cape Girardeau police and arrested. In addition to the domestic assault, he was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Mississippi County for a weapons charge.

The Mississippi County warrant carries a $500,000 bond; the Cape Girardeau Coutny warrant carries a $25,000 bond.

"I have had many cases where a domestic assault is one of the last events in a marriage, but this case may set a record for how quickly domestic violence happened in a marriage," Swingle said.
