Cape Girardeau woman seriously injured in traffic crash on Route K

A Cape Girardeau woman was seriously injured in a traffic crash on Route K at County Road 318 near Cape Girardeau this morning, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred when 50-year-old Kathryn Drury of Cape Girardeau was attempting to make a left turn onto Route K and drove into the path of an oncoming vehicle driven by Carl Eakins, 60, of Cape Girardeau. Drury was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center. Eakins was taken to Saint Francis by private vehicle.

The highway patrol classified Eakins injuries as moderate.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
