JEFFERSON CITY -- Angela Turner-Quinn of Cape Girardeau was honored recently as the co-recipient of the Adult Peer Educator of the Year Award. She was recognized for the honor by Gov. Mel Carnahan at a capitol ceremony during which the governor proclaimed Nov. 27-Dec. 4 as STD/HIV/AIDS Awareness Week.
Turner-Quinn was recognized for her work as a classroom instructor with the Comprehensive Substance Treatment and Rehabilitation Program conducted by the Family Counseling Center in Cape Girardeau.
As part of her work with the program, Turner-Quinn took a group to Carbondale, Ill., to see the AIDS Quilt and has obtained pamphlets, brochures and videos for Family Counseling Center clients.
