The city of Cape Girardeau recently received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report.
Presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, the award has gone to Cape Girardeau two years in a row. It is the highest form of recognition for governmental accounting and financial reporting.
At Monday's City Council meeting, Kimberly Dermott, the city's internal auditor, accepted the award. She was primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning report.
Dermott has been with the city since 1991 and also prepared last year's report.
