Cape Girardeau police issue three citations in Thursday motorcycle crash

Cape Girardeau police issued three citations in connection with Thursday's two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a car, police department spokesman Cpl. Adam Glueck said.

Witnesses say the driver of the car ran a stop sign at the corner of Independence and North Frederick streets and struck the motorcycle, Glueck said. The car driver, Aaron Wood, 38, of Cape Girardeau received citations for failing to stop at a stop sign and for operating a vehicle without a valid license.

Kevin Alexander, 34, of Cape Girardeau, received a citation for operating a motorcycle without a valid endorsement or permit.

Wood reported no injuries. Alexander, who had numerous scrapes and complained of right shoulder pain, was transported by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center. Police think the fact that Alexander was wearing a helmet protected him from more serious injuries, Glueck said.

Police investigate crash that injured motorcyclist

Cape Girardeau Police are investigating a two vehicle crash involving a motorcycle that left one person injured, said Cpl. Adam Glueck, spokesman for the Cape Girardeau Police Department. The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. at the corner of Independence and North Frederick Street, and involved a motorcycle, Glueck said. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Glueck said. Preliminary reports indicate the driver of the car may have run the stop sign at the intersection and struck the motorcycle. The driver, who was uninjured, was the only occupant of the car, Glueck said.
