Cape Girardeau police are investigating two burglaries at local businesses this week.

Tuesday morning, police responded to a report of a burglary and theft that happened overnight Monday at Cape LaCroix Pet Hospital, 2984 County Road 620. Employees contacted police at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday after discovering a glass window was broken on the front of the building. Cabinets inside had been forced open and some narcotic medication was taken, officer Darin Hickey said. No suspects have been identified at this time and the department's investigation continues, he said.

Early Wednesday, officers responded to an alarm call signaling a break-in at U Kwick Stop, 1700 Broadway. When an officer arrived shortly after at 3:52 a.m. Wednesday morning, he found the left glass door of the business had been broken, Hickey said. As of Wednesday afternoon, the owner was still trying to determine what, if anything, was taken, Hickey said. There were indications that a person had been inside the building. No suspects have been identified in this incident either and officers continue to investigate, Hickey said.
