Cape Girardeau police are investigating an armed robbery on North Spanish Street.
About 8:30 p.m. Monday, officers responding to a shots-fired call in the 1500 block of North Spanish Street spoke with three witnesses who said two men threatened them with a gun, said Darin Hickey, public information officer for the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
The men were looking for someone who was not there, Hickey said.
"When they realized the individual was not there, the two ... subjects became angry and made threats with the firearm," he said.
Witnesses told police one of the men then escorted one person into the house and stole electronic items, Hickey said.
The suspect then discharged a firearm down the alley before the two men left, he said.
The shot did not strike anyone, and no one was injured, Hickey said.
The case remains under investigation, he said.
Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area or has information about the case is asked to call the Cape Girardeau Police Department at 335-6621.
