Cape Girardeau police have confirmed that a man suspected of robbing a Cape Girardeau convenience store at gunpoint Friday afternoon has been arrested.
Cape Girardeau County deputies located the man when they spotted a vehicle that matched a witness description of the getaway car, a golden-brown colored Chevrolet Celebrity, at a residence on Hidden Valley Drive a short time after the robbery, said Cape Girardeau Police Department spokesman Cpl. Adam Glueck. The license plate number on the car also matched the number given by a witness, Glueck said.
The suspect, a 28-year-old, is in police custody. His name is being withheld pending the filing of formal charges.
There were no injuries in the robbery, which happened at the Amerimart convenience store at 1320 W. Cape Rock Drive. Glueck said a 911 call reporting the robbery came in at 1:50 p.m.
