Cape Girardeau police have arrested the man being sought in connection with a burglary on Woodlawn Avenue.
Anthony Eugene Smith, 17, 2040 Broadway, is one of two suspects in the burglary that occurred around 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to police Sgt. Jason Selzer. Smith was taken into custody Thursday on warrants for first-degree burglary, felony stealing and resisting arrest.
The other burglary suspect, Dominique Maxwell, 17, 2819 Whitener St., Apt. C5, was apprehended shortly after a neighbor alerted the police about the break-in. Maxwell was taken into custody and charged with first-degree burglary, stealing, resisting arrest and unlawful use of a weapon.
Police responded to a residence on Woodlawn Avenue Tuesday and found two men standing on the lawn with a plasma television and a duffel bag full of electronics. The two men fled, but Maxwell was quickly caught when police officers gave chase.
The weapons charge was filed because Maxwell had a loaded .22-caliber handgun in his pocket when he was caught, Selzer said.
