Lindsey Davis made a deal on a nationally televised game show and won.

Sort of.

The Cape Girardeau native who now lives in Los Angeles appeared on "Let's Make a Deal," which aired locally Thursday afternoon on KFVS12. The show, in which contestants dress in outlandish costumes and compete for prizes, is hosted by comedian Wayne Brady. The show is a remake of the 1960s NBC show of the same name.

Dressed in a bath robe, a shower cap and toting a huge back brush, the 28-year-old 2001 Central High School graduate initially won $1,500 but opted to trade the cash to take a chance on what was behind curtain No. 3.

She was hoping for a car. Or an exotic trip.

Instead, when the curtain was drawn back, she saw a $6,500, five-piece bedroom set.

Her disappointment was obvious.

"I was hoping I'd win something awesome," Davis said Thursday, an hour after the show aired. "Instead I won this huge furniture that if I actually got it in my house, I wouldn't ever be able to move. It would have taken up too much room."

The show's staff members told her they would call after the airing about her prize, but Davis said she'll probably just tell them to keep it. That way, she'll avoid taxes and shipping.

"I definitely wish I had just kept the $1,500," she said. "But at the time, I wanted to go for it. I went there with nothing. I was trying to think big, play big."

Despite her disappointment at the prize, Davis, who works as a graphic designer for fashion catalogs, said it was an enjoyable experience to be on the show, which was taped in November. She chatted with Brady for a bit on air. When he asked what she was dressed as, she told him she was a "bathing beauty."

"It was fun," she said. "It airs here Friday and I'm having some friends over to laugh at how stupid I looked and how disappointed I was."

Back home in Cape Girardeau, her parents were thrilled about their daughter being on television.

"I can't believe she got picked," said her father, Phil Davis, a motor parts salesman. "It was a big hoot for her."
