A Cape Girardeau man was charged Friday with two counts of statutory sodomy and two counts of statutory rape for allegedly having intercourse with a child younger than 14.
Paul S. Simpson, 25, 1103 N. Frederick St., now faces charges stemming from two separate incidents that occurred in May and July of 2008, according to Missouri Casenet.
Cape Girardeau Police obtained a warrant for Simpson's arrest Friday morning, and Cape Girardeau County Associate Circuit Judge Gary A. Kamp set bond at $100,000 cash only.
According to a probable-cause statement written and signed by Darren Estes of the Cape Girardeau Police Department, the alleged incidents were reported to police July 8.
The victim said they occurred shortly after Simpson was released from prison in May 2008 and then happened again in July 2008 at a residence in Cape Girardeau.
Interviews with the victim were performed at Southeast Missouri Network Against Sexual Violence, according to the sworn statement, where she described being forced into oral sex and intercourse with Simpson on several occasions.
She experienced bleeding at the mouth and genitals both times, the statement said.
Network Against Sexual Violence is where children are typically taken to have forensic interviews conducted in these types of cases, and serves as the child advocacy center for the region.
Simpson has convictions in Cape Girardeau County for passing bad checks and theft-related charges. He was arrested Friday, according to Sgt. Jason Selzer of the Cape Girardeau Police.
