A Cape Girardeau man accused of stealing from more than 15 dorm rooms on the Southeast Missouri State University campus gave up his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday before Associate Circuit Court Judge Gary A. Kamp. Marcus L. Woods, 24, charged with five counts of second-degree burglary, will now appear before Circuit Court Judge William Syler at 9 a.m. Tuesday for case review.

A Cape Girardeau man accused of stealing from more than 15 dorm rooms on the Southeast Missouri State University campus gave up his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday before Associate Circuit Court Judge Gary A. Kamp.

Marcus L. Woods, 24, charged with five counts of second-degree burglary, will now appear before Circuit Court Judge William Syler at 9 a.m. Tuesday for case review.

According to a probable-cause statement, Woods admitted to stealing miscellaneous jewelry and high-tech items from rooms in Towers South, including televisions, cameras, computers, a cell phone, a gaming system and a voice recorder.

After viewing a campus surveillance video, which showed two subjects exiting the dormitory with televisions and a bag, a Towers South resident identified one of the subjects as Woods.

Woods has prior convictions, including third-degree domestic assault and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia in 2007 and possession of a controlled substance in 2008.

He remains in custody on a $25,000 bond.
