BENTON, Mo. -- A Cape Girardeau man was in the Scott County Jail on Thursday after an arrest on a sex-crime charge related to a nursing home visit.
David H. Barberis, 55, was arrested Thursday on a charge of deviate sexual intercourse, according to a news release from Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter.
According to Walter, the Chaffee Nursing Home contacted his office Wednesday, reporting Barberis acted inappropriately while visiting female residents. The sheriff's department said Barberis travels to nursing homes to play music for residents.
Staff members became suspicious of Barberis when he entered the rooms of female residents and closed the door behind him, according to the sheriff, and a staff member said Barberis was caught acting "inappropriately" with a female resident.
Walter said Barberis was arrested at the sheriff's department Thursday when he came in to talk to an investigator about the incidents. Bond is set at $10,000.
