Police arrested a 31-year-old Cape Girardeau man on an arson charge in connection with a fire that burned a shed late Friday evening. David L. McClain was walking with friends along an alley behind 320 N. Middle St. about 11:50 p.m., when he allegedly stopped and used a lighter and a can of hair spray to set a detached garage on fire, said Cape Girardeau Police Sgt. Jason Selzer. Middle St. about 11:50 p.m., when he allegedly stopped and used a lighter and a can of hairspray to set a detached garage on fire, said Cape Girardeau police Sgt. Jason Selzer. No one was injured in the incident. No motive for the fire had been determined Tuesday. McClain was arrested at his home Tuesday morning.
