A man who was already in police custody on a warrant arrest has been charged with first-degree robbery.
Trevon D. Starnes, 18, of Cape Girardeau was arrested late Monday afternoon after a report of an altercation near the intersection of Bloomfield and Hanover streets, according to the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
Officers responded to the location and from witness interviews determined that Starnes, who had a warrant out for his arrest, had been involved in the altercation and had left the area on foot. Officers arrested Starnes at an apartment at 921 William St. a short time later, police spokesman Darin Hickey said.
Tuesday, a victim of an alleged robbery that occurred at Rhodes at Independence Street and West End Boulevard around 2 p.m. Monday made a report at the police station. The victim identified Starnes as the perpetrator.
The victim was exiting the store, Hickey said, and Starnes allegedly got into the back seat of her vehicle, put a gun to her head, demanded money and told her to drive. When they arrived at the location he had given her, Starnes allegedly fled on foot, Hickey said.
Starnes is being held on a $100,000 cash or surety bond.
