A Cape Girardeau man is in jail on a $20,000 bond after accusations he strangled a woman who refused to give him a ride to a drug house.
Cameron Eiland, 48, faces a charge of second-degree domestic assault, a Class D felony.
The alleged crime occurred Monday, July 8, when police responded to a domestic disturbance call. When police arrived, the alleged victim told an officer that after refusing to give Eiland a ride to a “residence to obtain narcotics”, Eiland placed his hands around the victim’s neck for approximately 20 seconds, during which time she could not breathe, according to a probable-cause document filed with the court. The alleged victim said Eiland also struck her in the the right side of the head with his hand.
Judge Frank Miller issued the bond in the case.
