A Cape Girardeau man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly abusing a pregnant woman.
The victim reported to police Saturday that 26-year-old Giles Triplett forced sexual intercourse on her several times over the past few weeks. The week prior, he allegedly strangled the 23-year-old woman by placing his hand around her throat, causing fingernail scratches on her neck. Those injuries were noted by an emergency room nurse. The victim also reported that Triplett had struck her in the face during arguments the same week.
Triplett is on parole for second-degree domestic assault and there are two prior reports on file with Cape Girardeau police naming him as the suspect of rape. He is charged in this case with felony sexual assault and domestic assault and goes to court Thursday.
