Cape Girardeau County Sheriff John Jordan announced Friday that he will seek re-election in the upcoming election.
Jordan has been sheriff for the past 10 years and has 24 years of experience in law enforcement. His experience includes time as a criminal investigator, narcotics officer and major case squad commander.
He currently serves on the legislative committee for the Missouri Sheriff's Association, the SEMO Drug Task Force Board, the Missouri Advisory Board to Midwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, the Missouri Clandestine Lab Task Force and is the project director for the Missouri Sheriff's Methamphetamine Relief Team (MOSMART).
Jordan wrote the MOSMART program, a $6 million, federally funded effort to fight against the state's methamphetamine problem.
So far, no one has announced opposition in the sheriff race. Feb. 24 is the first day candidates can officially file for office.
