Neumeyer is seeking re-election because "There is some unfinished work that needs to be done," including the continued revitalization of South Cape Girardeau and strengthening of property standards.

Gerald Stevens

Stevens is seeking election because, as a realtor, "I'm always interested in promoting housing growth. I'm further interested in just a broad advancement of the city agenda" and in promoting the city as a place for families.

Jay Purcell

315 N. Pacific

Works in shipping and receiving at Dana Corp. and owns rental property and a coin laundry in Cape Girardeau.

Purcell is seeking election to "provide a strong, conservative voice for Ward 3," to cut drug and juvenile crime in the city, cut taxes and improve relations between city employees and residents.

Ward 4 and 5

In Wards 4 and 5, no City Council terms expire this year. The seats held by Councilman Melvin Kasten 1209, Sailer Circle, and Councilman Melvin Gateley, 1725 Brookwood, will be up for election in 2000.

Richard Eggimann

Elected to City Council in 1994

Eggimann is seeking re-election "to continue the progress we've made on making the government of the city of Cape Girardeau user-friendly. That's why I started to start with."
