Cape Girardeau City Council Action

Consent Ordinances

* Amended chapter 30 of the city code relating to signs and added amendment providing for temporary signs for nonprofits (second reading only).

* Accepted temporary construction easements and permanent drainage easements from various property owners for the improvement of Linden Street.

* Accepted a waterline easement from Gregg and Yvonne Hallman for water main improvements on County Road 206.

* Annexed land to the city upon the request of Joseph James.

* Accepted a permanent sewer easement from Earl Norman for the Prestwick Plantation force main project.

New Ordinances

* Granted a special-use permit to Ford and Sons Funeral Home for purposes of constructing, maintaining and operating a mausoleum at 2315 U.S. Highway 61 North.

* Granted a special-use permit to MACO Properties and Cape Girardeau Properties for purposes of constructing, maintaining and operating multifamily housing for senior citizens at 1400 West End Blvd.

* Amended chapter 30 of the code of ordinances by changing the zoning of the University Research Park/University Village from R-1 to C-2.

* Approved the record plat of Ireland Subdivision.

* Amended Schedule G of Section 26-249 of the city code, establishing two hour parking on a portion of Bellevue Street.

* Amended Schedule F of Section 26-247 of the city code, by establishing a no-parking zone on a portion of Main Street.

* Amended Schedule V of Section 26-31 of the city code by establishing loading zones on Independence, Themis and Main streets.

* Amended Schedule C of Section 26-121 of the city code by repealing a stop sign on Main Street at Themis Street and establishing stop signs on Main, William and Aquamsi streets.

* Accepted utility easements from Dalhousie for improvements to serve Dalhousie Subdivisions.

* Accepted into the city's system the trunk main sewer improvements from manhole 1 to manhole 15 and lift station number 1 as shown on the plans for the Dalhousie sanitary sewer facilities.

Resolutions

* Authorized the mayor to execute a cooperative memorandum of understanding regarding a county quarantine and isolation ordinance.

* Authorized the city manager to execute an agreement with Lappe Cement Finishing for the Linden Street widening and improvement project.

* Denied the request of Kenneth and Jane Windisch Trust for placement of improvements on an alley right-of-way.

* Authorized the city manager to execute an addendum to the general services contract with Koehler Engineering and Land Surveying, Inc. for the Technology Park Drive project.

* Authorized the city manger to execute an engineering services contract for general services with Bowen Engineering and Surveying.

* Authorized the city manager to execute an extended warranty agreement with Synergy Broadcast Systems for Channel 5 equipment.

Liquor License

* Approved a temporary 5 percent beer-by-the-drink license for American Legion Post 63 for an event to be held at the Arena Building June 2 to 4.

* Approved a temporary 5 percent beer-by-the-drink license for Cape Girardeau Owners and Pilot Club for an event to be held at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport July 7 to 8.

Other

* Approved the improvement plans for the construction of street, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water main extension, sidewalks and streetlights to serve Laurel Grove Subdivision.

* Accepted into the city's system the eight-inch sanitary sewer extension to serve South Sprigg Street in Sewer District 13-L, contingent upon receipt of the total amount of inspection fees.

* Accepted into the city's system the street, water, sanitary sewer, all other necessary improvements, and storm sewers excluding the detention basin for The Lochs at Dalhousie in Sewer District 17-1-A.

* Accepted into the city's system the eight-inch sanitary sewer line between manholes 39, 38, 37 and lift station 5, as shown on the plans for The Highlands at Dalhousie, and a four-inch force main from lift station 5 to manhole 2 of the trunk sewer as shown on the plans for the Dalhousie Sanitary Sewer Facilities.
