Consent ordinances

Accepted permanent water main easements from various property owners for the construction and maintenance of a water main in the downtown area.

(Second and third readings)

* Authorized an agreement between Sikeston, Poplar Bluff, Jackson and Cape Girardeau to create a Southeast Missouri bomb team.

* Vacated a 10-foot utility easement on Independence Street between West Drive and Broadview Street.

* Authorized the acquisition of property for the improvement of Linden Street between Sprigg Street and West End Boulevard.

* Granted a special-use permit to Trifecta Development for purposes of maintaining and operating a building for office, service and retail uses at 3037 Lexington Ave.

* Amended the code of ordinances by changing the zoning of 3037 Lexington Ave. from R-1 to R-2.

* Authorized the acquisition of property for the improvement of Broadway at its intersection with Clark Avenue.

* Approved the record plat of Arbor Heights Fourth Addition.

New ordinances

* Transferred vacant lots to various property owners.

* Approved the record plat of Villas at Cape Rock.

* Annexed land to the city.

* Levied a special assessment for the improvement of Walnut Street and authorizing the issuance of special tax bills.

* Levied a special assessment for the improvement of Commercial Street from Walnut Street to Hickory Street and authorizing the issuance of special tax bills therefore.

* Renamed the east lane of Main Street Boulevard, between Independence Street and William Street, from Main Street to Aquamsi Street.

* Established two-way traffic on Main Street from Broadway to William Street.

* Established one-way traffic on Aquamsi Street from William Street to Independence Street.

* Executed a license and indemnity agreement with Danny Stratton for the placement of a fence on Hill Street/Riverview Drive right of way.

* Authorized applications to the Missouri secretary of state for local records preservation grants.

* Authorized application to the State Emergency Management Agency for an interoperable grant for radio replacement at the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

* Executed a professional services agreement with Sanborn Map Co. for an aerial photography and orthophoto base mapping project.

Appointments

* Made appointment to the Board of Adjustment.

Liquor licenses

* Granted conditional approval of an original package 5 percent beer and wine tasting liquor license for Memories Made in Missouri and More, 110 Themis St.

* Granted approval of a temporary 5 percent beer and wine by-the-drink liquor license for the Community Counseling Center Foundation for an event to be held at Deerfield Lodge on April 21.

Other

* Approved the preliminary plat of Laurel Grove Subdivision.

* Approved the improvement plans for the Gordonville Road storm sewer.

* Accepted the improvements to Minnesota Avenue from Bloomfield Road south; authorizing final payment to Fronabarger Concreters with the stipulation that the final check of $16,154.50 be held by the city until the pipe is cleaned by the contractor, and authorizing payment to Henegan and Associates for additional engineering services.

* Followed the recommendation of the planning and zoning commission to deny the request of Judy Ellen Grier for a special-use permit for a business (Yoga East Healing Studio) at 101 S. Louisiana Ave., in an R-2, single-family residential district; or in the alternative, a motion setting a public hearing regarding the request.

* Approved the improvement plans and request for sidewalk variance for Randol Farms 10th Subdivision.
