A suspect in a Thursday morning bank robbery remains at large, Cape Girardeau police said.
Shortly before 11:30 a.m., a robbery was reported at the Bank of Missouri, 372 S. Kingshighway. The man showed a semiautomatic weapon to a bank employee and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was was injured.
The suspect was believed to have fled in a white GMC Yukon or Chevy Tahoe with a luggage rack, moon roof and tinted windows.
Sgt. Barry Hovis said the description matched the description of the suspect of an Oct. 6 robbery at the same bank location. However, he could not confirm it was the same man.
The suspect is a 6-foot-4 man in his 40s with red hair. He was wearing an orange baseball cap, blue Tennessee Titans sweat shirt and a light blue T-shirt underneath the sweat shirt.
After police conducted a search, the bank reopened Thursday afternoon.
Hovis said it appears the timing of the robbery is unrelated to the rally for Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin that ended around 10 a.m.
But "we wouldn't rule it out," Hovis said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Cape Girardeau Police Department at 335-6621 or CrimeStoppers at 332-0500.
