A two-bedroom apartment complex in the 500 block of Boxwood Drive sustained moderate damage Sunday, after a fire started in the tenants' bathroom. Four Cape Girardeau fire crews responded to the four-unit apartment building Sunday afternoon and upon arrival saw light smoke coming from the lower level. Crews evacuated the building and cleared the smoke from the apartment. No one was hurt, according to assistant fire chief Mark Hasheider, and the tenants of the other three apartments were able to return to their living space. The fire was caused by a candle that tenants forgot to extinguish upon leaving their apartment.
