Cape doctor appointed to dental hygienist commission

Dr. Cynthia Heischmidt of Cape Girardeau was appointed Tuesday to the Advisory Commission of Dental Hygenists by Gov. Matt Blunt. Heischmidt, 54, is a dental hygienist who holds a doctoral degree from Southern Illinois University.

Her appointment is subject to Senate confirmation. If confirmed, her term will end March 22, 2012. The advisory commission is a five-member body that makes recommendations to the state dental board on education, licensing and other matters related to the professional of dental hygenie. The advisory commission was established in 2001.
