Leslie Martin and Cathy Clark, who have been involved in the operations of A Small World Pre-School for a number of years, have purchased the school.
"We bought the school and will lease the facility at 1215 N. Kingshighway," said Martin, who will serve as director of the school.
Martin, a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in elementary education with a specialization in the area of early childhood, started working at the school when it opened in 1982. She has since served as its director since 1985. She and her husband, Tony, have a son, Zack, 4.
Clark, who attended Southeast Missouri State University, has been employed as a teacher at the school since 1984 and will continue as an owner-teacher. She and her husband, Terry, are parents of a daughter, Kenda.
"We will continue to offer the same pre-school and afternoon programs that we have become noted for," said Martin.
"We will have a special open house May 16 from 1 to 4 p.m.," said Clark. "This will give the public an opportunity to find out more about our programs and meet the staff."
A Small World Pre-School was founded in July 1982 by Timothy and Sue Anne Rademaker.
"We started with five students," said Rademaker. "We now have more than 100 enrolled."
The school offers programs to children ages 2-12 and is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
