Sand-mining company Capital Sand Proppants and Cape Girardeau County amended an agreement at Mondays regular county commission meeting.
In 2015, Capital Sand Proppants and the county agreed on a plan to pay for improvements for county roads 346 and 347, which the sand-mining company uses. Capital Sand paid 15 cents per ton of sand transported up to $500,000, Commissioner Paul Koeper said. After that, a nickel a ton was to be deposited for any maintenance, Koeper said.
The cost of the project has increased, he said, and Capital Sand has agreed to pay an additional $300,000.
Its been a good relationship with Capital Sand, Koeper said, adding when all is complete, the company will have put $800,000 toward the project.
Including a $200,000 grant from Delta Regional Authority, that covered $1 million of the $1.4 million project cost.
I think it was a good job, Koeper said.
The roads were improved and paved, according to earlier reporting.
