The Cape Girardeau County Commission reappointed two members of the Riverside Regional Library Board on Monday. Joann Hahs and Tom Gross will each serve four-year terms.
Kevin Smith declined the commission's July 2 reappointment to the Cape Girardeau County Sewer District No. 1, as he was not sitting on that board. Smith resigned in July 2011 to concentrate on the formation of Blue Sky Center Inc., an organization working to establish progressive sheltered workshop and employment programs for local individuals with developmental disabilities, such as autism.
In other business, County Collector Diane Diebold received approval to add crime coverage to the county liability insurance to guard against theft of cash while in the possession of the county or in transit to the bank. Coverage for up to $50,000 was added to existing building and property coverage provided by W.E. Walker-Lakenan LLC of Cape Girardeau for an additional $352 per year.
Treasurer Roger Hudson told the commission that the county sales tax report shows that income is down 6.5 percent for July compared to last year. This month's report reflects what the state collected and processed in June, a total of $41,518, he said. For the year overall, sales tax income is up by 2.11 percent at $3,929,390.
