JACKSON -- The quarterly meeting of Cape Girardeau County MAFCE Council was held Sept. 2 at the extension office in Jackson. Helen Friese of Critesville Club gave the devotional.
The meeting was conducted by Joan Meyer. She announced the district fall meeting will be Oct. 26 at Sikeston Inn, with registration at 9 a.m. Each club is to furnish an item for a silent auction with proceeds going to flood relief. Cheerful country Doers will provide the door prize.
Margie Reisenbichler gave highlights of the state meeting held July 21 and 22 in Jefferson City. Margie Swan announced the trip to Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tenn., is Nov. 11-13, and that rooms are still available. She also mentioned a possible one-day trip to St. Louis in December. Wanda Peterman reported on the June 30 blood drive.
Peterman also presented the slate of officers. They are: Agnes Wachter, vice president; Ruby Hitt, corresponding secretary; Shirley Tiehes, public relations, and Dorotha Strack, parliamentarian. They will be installed by Margie Swan at the December council meeting and assume duties in January.
It was reported a committee met recently to revise the constitution with it to be typed with new changes and mailed to all clubs.
Susan Mills reported the national dues will increase from $1 to $12.50 per year in 1995. Other dues will increase from $5.25 to $16.75.
Mills also noted there will be 13 women from Thailand in the area Oct. 8-10. A picnic is planned,with the council providing meat and other clubs to donate additional dishes.
Mills handed out and discussed information in the president's packets for 1994.
The next meeting will be Dec. 2 at 10 a.m.
