Cape Girardeau County was hostess for the Southeast District meeting of FCE (extension) Clubs, held April 23 at Jackson Knights of Columbus Hall.
Members from nine counties attended. The theme was "Team FCE--Network Today for Tomorrow." Mary Klaproth gave the welcome and Margie Swan gave the thought for the day.
Vera Almond of Bloomfield, district director, presided.
The morning program was presented by Ruth Mellor of St. Peters, state president, and Joyce Smith of Niangua, state vice president. They told of the programs that FCE is involved in.
Rita Dirnberger received a Savings Bond, journal, ribbon and certificate as state winner of the fourth grade essay contest. There were more than 1,000 entries in the contest. The theme was "What My Family Means to Me."
Entertainment was by violinist Liesl Schoenberger.
The afternoon program was given by Jennifer Dennis of the Bootheel Counseling Center.
An auction was held as a money-making project.
The next district meeting is in October.
