Southeast Missourian The Cape Girardeau County Commission will hear recommendations on bids for several projects at its meeting today. Recommendations will be heard for bids received for Tuesday's scrap tire collection, set for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the county's highway maintenance facility on Highway 34, near the Highway 72 intersection. Recommendations will be heard for bids received for Tuesday's scrap tire collection, set for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the county's highway maintenance facility on Highway 34, near the Highway 72 intersection. The county will let residents bring up to 20 tires, including four tractor tires, but limits pick-up and auto tires to those with 17-inch rims.

Other bid recommendations will be made for Blue Shawnee Bridge work on County Road 524, an upgrade to billing software in the collector's office and an emergency generator.

The meeting will start at 9 a.m. today in the commissioners' chambers at 1 Barton Square in Jackson and is open to the public.
