During its meeting Monday the Cape Girardeau County Commission briefly discussed an issue concerning the SB40 Board, which distributes special tax levies passed to benefit people with developmental disabilities.
The board hopes to determine why the titles of various properties were never transferred to Cape Girardeau County.
The SB40 Board has held several meetings at the VIP Industries building, 5616 U.S. 61 in Fruitland, to discuss the matter further. Another meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. today at the VIP Industries building.
During its meeting Monday the Cape Girardeau County Commission briefly discussed the issue.
"I'm kind of at a loss," said District 2 Commissioner Jay Purcell, who has worked closely with the board to help resolve the matter. "We're trying to figure out why it didn't occur."
Presiding Commissioner Gerald Jones said since the county owns the properties the title needs to be in the county's name.
