COMMISSION ACTION

The Cape Girardeau County Commission took the following action Thursday:

Reappointed Dr. Hal Ridings, Donna Shirrell, Mary Robertson, Marcia Ritter and George Jedlicka to the county Mental Health Board.

Approved a contract for service with the Humane Society for $5,000.

Approved $1,521.70 for Governmento for a new tape drive and 20 new tapes to assist and train for year-end reports.

Approved $400 for the repairs of nine chairs in the Jackson courthouse.

Approved a 911 request to purchase two training modules at $319 apiece.

Tabled a motion on an ambulance service contract.

Approved the hiring of a part-time officer to transport prisoners and a full-time communications officer for the sheriff's department with the reimbursement from the U.S. Marshals Service to go toward the communications position and the part-time officer's salary to come out of the crime-reduction fund.

Authorized David Ludwig to check with the City of Jackson to review and study utility costs and utility-cost efficiency in county buildings.

Authorized Treasurer Bill Reynolds to dispose of an obsolete check-signing machine.

Authorized Don McQuay to work with the Missouri Department of Transportation's Steve Wilson in closing the existing entrance of Cape Girardeau County Park, to put up the proper signs and open the new entrance.

Authorized Assessor Jerry Reynolds to get three quotes and proceed with the best and lowest bid for a new computer.

Authorized Donna Burk, the county commission administrative assistant, to send out a letter to the coroner, seeking more information about the requirements of his job as it relates to his status as a part-time employee.
