The Cape Girardeau County Commission approved Monday expanding the capabilities of its assessor's and collector's software to streamline the creation of comprehensive real estate and tax reports.
Eric McGowen, information technology director, said that the county routinely receives requests for customized reports that have to be individually created at an hourly rate. The updated software will create a master report that covers all typically requested information and will be made available for a flat fee.
Tyler Technologies of Dallas, the provider of the existing software, will provide the update, which will cost an estimated $4,200 to $4,800. Half the cost will come from the assessor's new equipment fund and half will come from the information technology new equipment fund.
Shelter No. 8 was demolished along with shelter No. 7 to create space for Melaina's Magical Playland, a handicapped-accessible playground that broke ground in March. Once rebuilt, shelter No. 8 will be one of the park's largest shelters and will be able to seat 120 to 140 people, according to Associate Commissioner Jay Purcell.
