About 80 of the 100 Cape Central Marching Tigers and 40 parents spent three days of their winter break at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

Central High School assistant band director Josh Lamar said that although the trip is difficult to raise money for, it is an incentive for band members.

Lamar, who has been employed at CHS for six years, said he believes the band attends about every three to four years and that this is their fourth time.

"We typically perform at local venues, and it's nice to perform for a large crowd -- the park attendance was at 70,000 that day but we were told about 40,000 were present for our performance," Lamar said.

"It really makes you feel special knowing that your audience is from all over the world -- many of whom do not have marching bands. Besides jazz, marching band is an American tradition."

The Marching Tigers were one of three high school bands to perform that day.
